More about KCKC Knives

These are the questions I get most often. If you have one that’s not answered here, email me at info@kickapoocreekknifeco.com and I’ll get back to you.

How can i best care for my Nekoti?

With proper care, your Nekoti should last a long time, probably longer than you. The most important part of knife care (for ANY knife) is remembering that it’s a knife, not a screwdriver, can-opener, hammer or toothpick (that last one is more self-care than knife-care). If you treat your Nekoti well, it will treat you well. That means keeping it dry, sharp and protected.

Do you make Custom knives?

No, not at this time. I am focusing on creating a drop of select knives a few times a year. These knives are unique in that I rarely make the same color/blade/handle combination twice. The Nekoti’s design lends itself to looking and feeling like an individual knife. I am looking into offering some custom blade engraving in the near to mid-future.

How do i clean my Nekoti?

When I talk to customers about cleaning their knives, it comes down to three things to remember.
1. The actual cleaning is easy- just use some soapy water and a cloth and you’ll be good to go. More important than the soap you use to clean your knife is:
2. DRY and oil your knife. The most important thing you can do is keep it dry after you clean it. This is the best way to prevent oxidization and keep your blade sharp and true. For all knives, I use Axe Wax.
3. Clean it often. I clean mine every day as i wear it on my hip and it’s easy to remember to do. Acids and oils are everywhere and you’ll often not see them on the blade. It’s easy to just clean (and dry) it every day.

My knife is broken, what can i do?

If you do happen to break your knife, wear off the cerakote coating or simply need it sharpened, we’ll make it good. contact us on our contact form with a photo (so we know what’s coming) and we’ll make it right, as long as there are no obvious marks of abuse on the knife.
